10 Movies That Would Be Better With YouTubers As The Main Characters

As much as YouTubers and books have gone hand in hand recently, a fair amount of “YouTuber movies” have been released as well. For example, Mamrie Hart wrote and acted in the smash film, Camp Takota. She starred in the movie along with her two best friends, Hannah Hart and Grace Helbig. Rumors are spreading that a sequel is currently being filmed! What?!

As much as we all love the Holy Trinity’s original masterpiece, other YouTube stars deserve the spotlight as well! We’ve compiled a list of movies that would have been even more epic if our favorite YouTubers were in them.

1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves feat. Zoe Sugg

Hannah Rose for Team Fangirl // Disney

Live action remakes of classic Disney movies have become very popular within the past year. It would make perfect sense for Zoe to star in a live action version of Snow White considering the amazing voice skills she displayed in her new Disney Challenge collaboration with Tyler Oakley! If the shoe fits…

2. Tarzan feat. Louis Cole

Hannah Rose for Team Fangirl // Disney

Hold the phone! We’re not trying to make some stupid joke about Louis’ physical appearance (although his dreads would make him a physical shoe-in for the role). Louis’ spontaneous nature and love for adventure makes him perfect for a new live action version of Tarzan. Teaching others how to enjoy life to the fullest while living simply is exactly the life advice we all need.

3. Freaky Friday feat. Louise and Darcy

Freaky Friday

Okay, so we may have to wait a couple of years for this one. If for some reason you’re unaware of Disney’s original movie, Freaky Friday, the movie includes a mother and daughter who switch bodies in order to fully understand the hardships of each other’s lives. Sounds like a great mother/daughter bonding experience for Louise and teenage Darcy!

4. Cheaper by the Dozen feat. The Shaytards

Cheaper By the Dozen

Hannah Rose for Team Fangirl // 20th Century Fox

Everyone’s favorite big screen family mixed with YouTube’s favorite family. What’s not to love?

5. The Breakfast Club feat. Our2ndLife

Breakfast Club

Hannah Rose for Team Fangirl // Universal Pictures

These lovely collab channel boys have never had trouble getting along, however, we all know they would kill these roles in the classic 80’s flick. Ricky Dillon for Prom Queen!

6. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off feat. Troye Sivan

Hannah Rose for Team Fangirl // Paramount Pictures

Troye Sivan, our favorite little Aussie boy, could spice up Ferris’ character in all the best ways. Plus, we know he would KILL the float performance scene. A sneak peek of Wild, perhaps?

7. The Notebook feat. Tanya Burr and Jim Chapman

The Notebook

Hannah Rose for Team Fangirl // New Line Cinema

Now, no one can beat Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, but seeing Jim and Tanya’s love story on the big screen would be a dream come true, don’t you agree?

8. The Hangover feat. Caspar Lee, Joe Sugg, and Oli White

Hannah Rose for Team Fangirl // Warner Bros.

Picture this: Joe Weller’s gone missing in Las Vegas after a crazy party with his best mates, so it’s up to them to find them…while hungover and with no memory of the night before. A complete mess that only these boys could manage to pull off.

9. Juno feat. Jenna Marbles

Hannah Rose for Team Fangirl // Fox Searchlight Pictures

Jenna’s sarcastic life advice makes us laugh like no other. Regardless of the lack of similarities between the characters, nobody could do a better job than Jenna as the hot mess that is Juno MacGuff.

10. Mean Girls feat. Tyler Oakley

Mean Girls

Last but not least, Queen of the Internet, Tyler Oakley, has swiped the Regina George throne. He’s always been our queen bee, but who shall be his Cady Heron?

Although (some of) our favorite Internet stars haven’t broken the big screen yet, YouTube has given them the opportunity to let their true personalities shine and has allowed us to come along for the journey. Given the recent merge of the Internet with television and film, we can expect much more in mainstream pop media from our favorite YouTube stars. Who knows, maybe Zoe Sugg will be the next big Disney princess or Troye Sivan will be the next Matthew Broderick. But for now, they remain our (not so) little secret.
