We Were at 5 Seconds Of Summer’s Summer VEVO Certified Live Show!

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably heard that last night VEVO hosted a free 5SOS show in Santa Monica, CA to celebrate over 100,000,000 views on the 5SOS VEVO YouTube channel.

TeamFangirl has the inside scoop on everything that went down at this VEVO Certified Live! since Hannah Rose (contributing writer) and Bridget (researcher) nabbed tickets to this exclusive event!

2:00 P.M. – We arrived at the venue which was the Santa Monica Airport. We were told that we were not allowed to line up until 3:30pm… wonderful.

2:15 P.M. – We decided to head to a local Starbucks and wait it out. Typical fangirl move. While we were there, we ran into many girls waiting to go to the event as well. We gabbed about past concerts while charging our devices (Also, can we discuss the new charging rings at Starbucks? Life savers!).

3:20 P.M. – We hopped back into the car and parked at Santa Monica College (for free! Thanks 1ota!) then tried to figure out where to go. We were told to wait in the parking lot until 3:30pm to even get in line. Ugh. Just let us see our boys already!

3:30 P.M. – We walked quickly into the general admission line and were about 30th in line. Then we waited. And waited. And waited…

4:30 P.M. – We finally were moved down the street and waited again….

5:30 P.M. – About 75 people from the general ticket line (including us) were moved next to check in, and we waited again… Good thing we made friends with these lovely people!

6:15 P.M. – We finally made it through security and check in, and were on our way into the venue which was in an airport hangar.

7:00 P.M. – VEVO announced the boys would shortly be on stage. The excitement was so real!

7:05 P.M. – Ashton Irwin came onto the stage and started drumming down the seconds until the concert started.  At this point, we were screaming VERY loudly. As all of the boys continued to skip their way front and center, Hannah could be seen crying from the sidelines because of Luke Hemmings’ facial hair.

7:06 P.M. – The boys were on stage singing their first song, “End Up Here,” and everything was good in the world. They continued on to play Voodoo Doll, Permanent Vacation, Don’t Stop, Disconnected, Long Way Home, Rejects, and Heartache on the Big Screen. True works of art.

7:40 P.M. – The first few chords of Amnesia began to play and the entire crowd was super emo. After managing to get through that emotional mess, the boys decided to throw Beside You into the mix, which killed all of us from the inside out.

8:55 P.M. – At this point, Michael was screaming with us. Literally. He was incredibly happy that night, his smile lit up the entire room. Being the goober that he is, he refused to speed up the tempo to, “Kiss Me Kiss Me,” at first, singing it slowly as if he were a female singer in a 1950’s bar. What a goof.

8:00 P.M. – Then, the moment we were all waiting for had arrived: She’s Kinda Hot, everyone’s new favorite punk jam. They performed the song incredibly, making us all proud. And of course, Ash had to mention the new broken scene, slipping, “Sounds Good Feels Good,” slyly into his transition monologue. *insert smirking emoji here*

8:07 P.M. – The boys finished off their set with a classic, “SLSP”. During which, the girls in front of us finally sang because it was probably the only song that they knew. *sips tea*

8:10 P.M. – Ashton Irwin once again ran on stage and jumped behind his drum kit while the rest of 5SOS came on stage for an encore.  They played “Good Girls” and ended the night with “What I Like About You,” followed by their signature bow at the end of the runway.

8:15 P.M. – The world had become significantly quieter and 5SOS fans were going through the first stage of Post Concert Depression (PCD) denial that is it truly over. However, the faint sounds of Drag Me Down playing on the distant car radio was good enough to sooth our aching hearts.

Shoutout to VEVO for allowing us see our favorite boys for free, and a BIG thank you to 5SOS for putting on such a wonderful show. We had a blast and are now going to weep for a few days while we listen to LiveSOS and SKH over and over again.

On August 24th you can experience this concert on VEVO- keep an eye out for it!

Hannah Rose is a contributing writer for TeamFangirl.com. All she wants is to do is hang out with 5SOS and do hoodrat things. Is that too much to ask? @tishannahrose

Bridget Rossi is a researcher for TeamFangirl.com. She hopes one day to be called onto stage to play guitar with the boys. @bridgetirene13
